  • Boys and girls,

The song said it never rains in Southern California ... what a Crock 'O Crap! It's been raining now for two days and it's not going to let up until after the weekend .... I don't mind too much, as it makes for nice evenings with a Irish Coffee by the fireplace.

I do love how the SoCal news team goes into "Storm Watch" mode, like it's a huge disaster. There's reporters all over the place watching the streets for flooded gutters and freeway accidents. It's pretty funny really. California doesn't have any weather, to speak of ... we just have atmosphereic blips from time to time. For example, one day in late January, it was 93 degrees, then it dropped down to high 60's and then stablized back to a normal 74.

Rain isn't really an issue, unless you're driving on the freeway ... people here do not know how to drive in the rain. They freak out, and slow WAY down for everything .... tin can on the side of the road? "Back it down to 5 mph Leroy, damn thing could jump out and clip you!" Someone pulled over for a ticket? ALL the cars slow to half the speed limit thinking the cop is going to be able to jump back in his car and snag them.

It's comedy, really. But enough about the weather ...

For some reason, I've been jonesing BIG TIME for some Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles. Could it been that I've been carb-deprived for several months now? Yes, I think it is. Since I had to put off my birthday due to my wife's illness, I'm thinking it's about to break it out double extra large. This is a pic from the one on Sunset and Gower in Hollywood, and really, it's the best of the bunch as far as atmosphere and attitude. If you ever are in Hollywood, you MUST go there and mack down. This place is well worth the drive So to tide me over till then, here's what I'll be thinking about today. For those of you who know Roscoe's, my meal of choice is the Scoe's #2, with the gravy on the side. Now I'm really getting hungry ....

I hope you all have a great Weds. For whatever reason, this week has FLOWN by. I hope I can get some of the things done that I need to. Hmmm .... I wonder what's on TV?

    Never pet a burning dog,

  • Your over jealous weather reporters sound like ours. Half an inch of snow requires a photo shoot LOL.
BTW is a burning dog similar to a hot dog??

  • I'm going to go there as soon as I get to Hollywood.

  • Oooooh! LA Boy got a little rain. Oooooh! I guess it's all relative. Eat a waffle for me.:)

  • I lived in Redondo Beach, briefly, and I used to laugh my butt off at how Californians drive in the rain (probably the same way New Englander's laugh at everyone else in the NE about driving in the snow).

Uh....chicken and waffles sound really gross.

  • Your story about the rain reminds me of when it snowed an inch in Indiana.  They closed the schools, shut down roads, and told people, "Don't go outside!"  Pretty funny.  Here's hoping the rest of the week flys by.  :)
