  • MEMORIAL DAY

I got to thinking about Memorial day and what it really means. When you think about it, even some of the most basic freedoms we have here in America came at the cost of someone dying. I'm not saying war is a bad thing or making some sort of political statement about the current state of affairs, but it really makes you stop and realize that someone, somewhere gave their very life so we can enjoy things like freedom of speech, the ability to travel where ever we choose, the ability to make as much or as little money as we can, read, watch or write anything we want, and wear whatever clothing we deem fit.

I don't like the thought of people dying and I'm not fond of war (as we speak my nephew is getting ready to go over to Iraq), but today ... if only for a second, stop and take a moment to think about all those crosses at Arlington Cemetery. Whether you agree with war or not, the bottom line is each one of those people represented by those crosses gave their lives fighting to protect you and your freedoms.

    Not someone else ... you.
