I don't know where the time went. The last thing I knew, I had posted pics of the 4th of July. The next thing I know, it's the 4th of August. Sorry for abandoning y'all. Since we last spoke, I did a complete wipe of my hard drive to do a fresh install of winXP Pro. I forgot to unplug my external Fire Wire drive and when the install program sensed it, I thought it found my main hard drive, so I had it reformat the whole drive.
Did I mention I backed EVERYTHING up to the external drive?
I lost a year's worth of stuff, thousands of images, a few web sites I did, two and a half CDs worth of original music I had done, programs, sounds files, and all of my important emails from Outlook.
Gone .. wiped clean, history. *sigh*
The funny thing is, now that all of that stuff is gone, I don't really miss any of it. And to be honest, save for the emails from Outlook, I haven't run into anything that I've REALLY needed from my back up. Sure I miss the songs I recorded, but I have 2 of the CDs burned so I can get the MP3s back.
So why did I do the fresh install of XP?
I've been waiting for four years for this game ... and actually built my computer around the specs just to play it. I gotta tell you, the game is the most frightening game I've ever played. It's dark, the surround sound is incredible and the graphics are mind blowing. Play the trailer on the Doom 3 site, you'll see what I mean.
The game came out yesterday at 12:01 in the morning, but I thought it would be at Best Buy for an easy pick up. No go ... they sold over 300 copies in under 2 hours. Fry's sold out their allotment as did every store in Orange County! I was just about to give up hope when I stumbled across this new game store about 3 minutes from my house. They had 9 copies left! Couldn't believe it! So that's what I've been doing tonight. Hunting demons and killing zombies.
I've had to take a couple breaks from playing because it's gotten SO intense, it really wipes you out. Anyway ...
I just wanted to let you know I haven't deserted you, and unless I'm killing monsters, I'll post more often.

Tough luck about the re-install. Missed seeing your postings, not like I have been a regular poster myself. Hope the job and everything else is going well for you. Kill a zombie for me. Oh yeah, they're already dead!

Shouldn't laugh, but I thought it was only me that did tricks like that.
I to had a hard disc problem. Nothing major, just a few corrupted files - or so I was told. "Just re-install Windows - it'll be OK".
Blind trust is a dangerous thing. My brand new version of our website. No end of piccy's, music files and the like.
I sort of know how you feel.
P.S. I used to spend hours playing the origonal Doom game (in fact I have gone off games somewhat since). Now I know Doom3 is out, I may well give games another go.
