I'm typing this with my left hand, as my right one is broken. I was going to a meeting about 1/4 mile from my house (on my bike) and some guy in a white van decides to make a left hand turn 20 feet in front of me ... and then stop in the middle of the intersection! I hit the brakes and slam right into the side of him. They strapped me to a board, shoved an IV in my hand and took me to the trauma center. I spent the night in the hospital, got fed a bunch of morphine and vicodin, got a spiffy new cast for my hand and more aches and pains than I care to count. I got home yesterday and spent the rest of the time in bed.
My bike is okay, save for the front end. The forks are bent back and the fender is jacked. Glad to be working at a bike shop, for sure.
My wife is freaked out ... she wants me to sell the bike. While I respect her concerns, I'm not sure if catering to her fear is the best thing to do. We'll see. It's only been a day.

HOLY CRAP, dude!
Thank your good fortune you only broke your hand! +whew+
Oh Man! Hope you get better, and I hope that there are no long term lingering problems. Sounds like you are not riding a bike for a while anyways, so that whole issue can go on the back burner for now. Despite the drugs and the pain, I think you have the right attitude to be positive have a sense of humor. Take care buddy!
Hope you recover quickly!
Hello DG,
I am so sorry to hear about your accident.
You can say it was your lucky day. You could have
been killed. Hope you have a quick recovery. Good luck my friend......
.
I am really sorry to hear that DG . The roads become dangerous . I wish a fast recovery for your hand because it ' s a real handicap for you . Motor bike is a pleasure . I knew . But it ' s sure there is no much protection for the rider . In your case the situation could become more serious yet . But fortunatly it was not .
In friendship
Michel
I was going to call you this weekend to see if you were REALLY okay, but turns out, I have lost your number! And I thought I had EVERYONE's number in my Palm Pilot. D'oh!
Hang in there, Dan! Don't sell the bike! Life is meant to live, and if you love the bike, keep it.
How are you now ?
Michel
