Rodney Dangerfield, the bug-eyed comic whose self-deprecating one-liners brought him stardom in clubs, television and movies  fell into a coma after undergoing heart surgery, died at 1:20 p.m Tuesday. He was 82.

  • Sorry I've been negligent in Xangaing, real life has gotten in the way. Don't give up on me, I'm still reading, but commenting less. I'll pick back up when things settle down.

  • My certificate from the Motorcycle Safety Foundation came in the mail on Thursday, and as luck would have it, the DMV in town was open today. So I went in and took the written part of the test to get my Class M license. The questions were pretty different than the written ones in the class, but I squeaked by and missed 4, the maximum number you can miss and still pass. So now I'm legal to operate a motorcycle. Alert the media.

Funny ... there were no questions about how to successfully crash in a flower bed at a golf course.

BTW, for those of you who are interested in seeing what the Chopper I crashed looks like, check out the latest issue of Street Chopper magazine on newsstands now. Look for the story on the Texas Chopper (the blue and silver one). Yep, that's the bike before I got my paws on it.

Now I just gotta figure out what bike to get .....

  • I PASSED!

It was pretty easy, actually. I honestly thought I did really bad on the final driving exam, but it turns out I did really great. To pass the class, you had to have a score of less than 21 points. I had a total score of 4. Pretty damn sweet. One of the girls in the class aced the test and got 0. Wow.

So now I have to wait 10 days for the certificate and then go to the DMV and take their written test and I'll have an M1 license.

Now I just have to get a bike.

  • So today is the last day of the rider's class ... including the testing portion. I did pretty good yesterday, and I'm thinking today should be okay. I'm a little nervous about test, as I tend to over think things, so my plan for today is stay in the moment and enjoy the class.

I'll let you know this evening if I get my certificate.

  • Today I go and take pat one of the riding test for the California motorcycle safety program. I did the written on Tuesday, and got a perfect score. Now comes the "hands on" portion of the test. It's two days from noon to 5 at the fair grounds parking lot. They provide the motorcycles, helmets and gloves. It should be fun.

When I pass this test, all I have to do is take my certificate down to the DMV and take their written test. Then if all goes according to plan, I should have my motorcycle license by next week.

That is, if I don't crash the test bike into a flowerbed. :)

    I'll keep you posted.

  • Okay ... You'll probably be hearing alot about DOOM 3 from me.

It's freaking awesome! I'm intentionally playing it slow so it'll last a lot longer. This is one of the most frightening games I've ever played. Very immersive and addicting. And I'm only on the 5th level.

    Absolutely amazing.

  • So I thought it was time for a new skin for my site. You like? I think it's easier to read than the other one. The only problem is, I can't get my review page to show ... I've got some good absinthe content but no one can see it!

    Have a great Sunday.

  • I don't know where the time went. The last thing I knew, I had posted pics of the 4th of July. The next thing I know, it's the 4th of August. Sorry for abandoning y'all. Since we last spoke, I did a complete wipe of my hard drive to do a fresh install of winXP Pro. I forgot to unplug my external Fire Wire drive and when the install program sensed it, I thought it found my main hard drive, so I had it reformat the whole drive.

Did I mention I backed EVERYTHING up to the external drive?

I lost a year's worth of stuff, thousands of images, a few web sites I did, two and a half CDs worth of original music I had done, programs, sounds files, and all of my important emails from Outlook.

Gone .. wiped clean, history. *sigh*

The funny thing is, now that all of that stuff is gone, I don't really miss any of it. And to be honest, save for the emails from Outlook, I haven't run into anything that I've REALLY needed from my back up. Sure I miss the songs I recorded, but I have 2 of the CDs burned so I can get the MP3s back.

So why did I do the fresh install of XP?

    DOOM 3

I've been waiting for four years for this game ... and actually built my computer around the specs just to play it. I gotta tell you, the game is the most frightening game I've ever played. It's dark, the surround sound is incredible and the graphics are mind blowing. Play the trailer on the Doom 3 site, you'll see what I mean.

The game came out yesterday at 12:01 in the morning, but I thought it would be at Best Buy  for an easy pick up. No go ... they sold over 300 copies in under 2 hours. Fry's sold out their allotment as did every store in Orange County! I was just about to give up hope when I stumbled across this new game store about 3 minutes from my house. They had 9 copies left! Couldn't believe it! So that's what I've been doing tonight. Hunting demons and killing zombies.

I've had to take a couple breaks from playing because it's gotten SO intense, it really wipes you out. Anyway ...

I just wanted to let you know I haven't deserted you, and unless I'm killing monsters, I'll post more often.

  • Man how time flies!!! I thought my last blog was only a week ago. What a slacker I am.

I probably should tell you about the 4th. You see, each year I get lit on fire. It started about 5 years ago when me and some pals started dancing around the fireworks as they were going off ... then somehow that translated to me getting lit on fire. Allow me to illustrate this year.

My friend Rick decided to make me a giant robot costume that he would strap fireworks to. Rather than go into an elaborate description, allow me to post some shots.

There's more at THIS LINK. Enjoy, and let's be safe and sane this year, huh kids?

I have no idea how I'm going to top this year ... I only have 350 or so days to figure it out.
