  • Awesome .... it's the start of a long weekend. The downside is now I'm getting ready to go rent a truck and get all of our crap out of storage. We're going to do a "one trip" thing so it won't take all day, but then we have to put all of our stuff away in our new garage cabinets and finally have an organized garage. So it's a mixed emotion kind of thing. Sort of like seeing your mothing law going over a cliff in your new Ferrari.

    Have a great Saturday!

  • I know my blogs have been sparse and sporadic of late, but working those 10 hour days really doesn't leave much time to be on the internet. I know I've been going on and on about my job, but damn! It feels so good to be doing something that you are appreciated for. But enough about work.

The garage is almost done ... the cabinets have been hung, and all that's needed are the doors. It's pretty amazing how the addition of cabinets changes the whole look of a garage. Hopefully, it will be done by the weekend so I can snap a few photos and share them with you.

I've still been doing the Jenny Craig diet thing ever since the juice fast, and it's working! I went in to the chiropractor to get adjusted and stepped on the scale ... dropped another 3.5 pounds in the last 2 weeks. That makes a grand total of 41 pounds since the start of March. My brother in law (who had the gastric bypass) and I are tied on our weight loss ... every time we get together it's just about a tie as to who's losing more weight.

Oh yes, you really must go over and see my friend Faquet's blog, it's got a great photo of him hanging out and reading the paper. The only thing missing is a glass of absinthe, but it looks like he's doing just fine. I hope to meet him in person one day.

That's about all the news that's fit to print. I promise to make more time to blog soon.

  • Wow ...it's been a week since my last blog! I gotta tell you the time has really flown by. I realy love my job a lot, even though the hours are long it's been one of the most rewarding things I've been involved in. I'd write more, but I'm going to go take a nap.

  • Wow ... my first week of work is over already. I really love this job. The hours are long (I'm working from 9-7), and it's only going to get busier as we ramp for for the multimedia projects we'e got to get done. But I have to tell you, I haven't had as much fun, or gotten to use my creative talents this way in almost 4 years! What a difference it makes when peoiple actually appreciate what you can do.

Oh ... here's the link to the company website, we'll be redoing the site soon (another of my projects). I'll take some pictures next week and post them.

  • My first day at work was okay. The boss was, gone, and I didn't have a computer to work at, but it allowed me the time to get to know my co workers and do some market research. I did get to see my new office which is part of the new expansion. It'll be nice ... and I think it'll be done next week. In the meantime, my temporary office will be set up today.

They have some bitchin' bikes at this place. I'll take some photos for you to see. The people there are really cool, and they are all very supportive. I'll fill you in on more as the week goes.

  • Okay ... last night was big fun. I got to the pub at 1:00pm, had some lunch and proceeded to start in on those Wonder Watermelons. There were seven of us present, and then someone had the great idea that we should do some Belfast Bombers (Jameson whiskey and Irish Creme). By the time 5:00 rolled around, I was done. Got home and fell asleep until 9:30 .... I was going to go see Van Helsing with some other friends at 7:00, but now I'm nursing Van Hangover.

Was it worth it? Hell yes. Great way to put some closure on a 4 year work stint.

Today is a relaxed day ... clean my office, go to Home Depot then chill out until my new job starts on Monday.

    Have a great weekend.

  • I'm officially gone. I wore shorts to work, and spent the morning filling out the employment papers for my new job. I sent out a "see ya later" company wide email, went around and said my goodbyes and left at 11:00am.

I made sure to knock the dust from my shoes on my way out the door. :)

It's a new start ... I think it's going to be good, and I'm excited about the possibilities.

I'm off to the Irish pub for lunch, and spend some good drinking time with my friends..

  • Today was pretty laid back ... did a couple things for the websites ... actually just went around and say most of my goodbyes. My supervisor (not to be confused with my boss) had an afternoon ice cream social for me. It's was nice to sit around on the company dime and eat ice cream.

I blowing out of work tomorrow at noon, and heading out to the irish pub for food and fun.

  • Had a nice little get together at a sports bar after work .. some of the girls from the 11th floor got a little party together to se me off. It was nice just to sit around with everyone and talk ... and just be people ... not co-workers, but people. I think if there was more of this in the workplace it would make for such a better environment. I'm going to miss the people, but not the place.

I've had all my exit interviews, and the only thing left to do is COBRA my insurance for a month until the new one kicks in. Friday I'm meeting my friend Rich at this little Irish pub for lunch and "wonder watermelons." Basically it's hollowed out watermelons filled with 5 different kinds of rum and juice. They stick straws in them so the thing looks like a dead spider. They ordered two of them ... our personal record is three ... yes, we're going to be there for awhile.

Still haven't heard from my boss. Oh well. I'm over it ... I really am.

Did my first project for my new boss ... a 4 page newsletter. I got a message on my cell from him telling me how awesome it was and how it was just what he wanted. It almost made me cry, because that's the first time in 4 years I heard anyone who was my boss (and I've had 5 in the last 4 years) tell me I did a good job. I'm going to like this place ... I can tell already.

I'll keep you posted as the final day and a half comes to a close.

  • Thanks to all for the kind wishes and comments regarding my new job. As of today, I STILL haven't heard a word from my boss regarding my leaving. I met with Human Resources on Friday and we talked about all the things I was bitching about ... poor girl, she had no idea what she was walking into. You have to understand, I'm NOT a disgruntled employee ... I love the people and really believe in the product, but when you run your company like a Dilbert cartoon strip, people are going to want to find work elsewhere. I was calm, clear and concise in my issues with the company. She sat there with her mouth hanging open (she's only been here for 5 months ... replacing the other HR rep that was fired).

Oh well ... this is my last week. They're getting a group of people together Wednesday night for drinks in my honor, so that'll be fun. On Friday I'm blowing out at noon and having lunch with my best friend and enjoy the last day of the week before I start my new gig.

I'll fill you in on what goes on next week.
