  • Well, real life beckons, and I won't be able to post anymore. I've had a blast here on Xanga and have made some really cool virtual friends. I wish you all the best in life, love and career. Take are of yourself and be good to one another.

    Oh yeah, happy April 1st.

  • Since we cleaned out the garage and moved all of the stuff into storage, there was a lot of other boxes we needed to keep here at the house. So where did they end up? Why in my office, of course! So today I'm going to try and get organized and get rid of stuff ... I'm still going to hold to my 10 second rule (If I pick something up and look at it for more than 10 seconds, I throw it away) and see if I can't get some order back into my workspace. Speaking of the garage, we just got the bid on the custom cabinets ... it's going to be pricey, but it'll add value to the garage in the long haul.

Other than that, I need to get a haircut and I'm working on a proposal that has to go out today, and then we have some friends over for a BBQ tonight.

  • It's Friday .... *sigh.*

I'm so looking forward to the weekend ... I have to write a proposal for some guy that wants to hire me to write a script for his video company he's starting. Pretty excitingly stuff, really. It's all motorcycle based, so it'll be fun. There's MUCH more to this story, but I don't feel comfortable discussing it in an open forum. Perhaps I should start using the "protected post" feature. Anyway.

My wife took out Niece and Nephew's kids to see the new "Scooby Doo" movie ... I'll pass, thank you ... I'm still waiting to go se Dawn of the Dead ... I've heard nothing but good reviews, so we'll see. I'll be going out for Sushi tonight ... I've set aside one night pr week to treat myself to some of the food I love (with the exception of sugars and such) so that will be awesome. I've really been feeling good, since I've been watching what I've been eating ... I've jumped on the Jenny Craig program by proxy .... my wife's doing it, so it was just easier to follow suit. I'm not sure how much weight I've lost, but I'm down 2 pant sizes. I'll weigh in Monday and let you know. So what are your big plans for the weekend?

  • Sorry for the late blogging, but things in the real world got a little out of control. For the record, I FREAKING HATE SETTING UP 802.11g WIRELESS NETWORKS.

There, I said it and I'm proud.

I got my wife's new computer built (actually, it was more of an excuse to upgrade my process to a hyper-threaded 3.06 P4), and now we're all hooked up here at the house. She used to have a Mac, but it kept crashing so we're ditching it, in favor of her new PC. I've been on the phone just about every night to the fine folks at D-Link tech support. Last night was the end all of end alls .... I'm on hold for like 1.5 hours ... he finally gets on the line and we go through the whole process of setting up the IP configurations and he goes, "Okay, this is the very last step. What I need you to do is" .... click. The battery on the cordless phone died.

I would have cried if it hadn't been so perfect in a Murphy's Law kinda way. I had a good laugh and was able to figure out the last step on my own. So it's all good. If anyone out there is a wiz at setting up WEP encryption with the new D-Link router, give me a shout, will you?

This week has been filled with meetings and paperwork ... not much time for blogging. So with that, I'm off to bed. Goodnight, all!

  • Here's a sneak peek at the garage .... note the vaulted ceiling, canned lights and gray epoxy floor. The builder is coming in to do the finishing, floor trim and give us a bid for the cabinets nest week. Once the cabinets are installed, it'll really start coming together.

As a side note, one of our neighbors had a break in two nights ago ... he was sleeping on the couch at around midnight and woke up to a guy walking past him. He tried to get him, but he got away ... cops never found him. First time we've had a break in around this area since 1985 so I'm told. Might have to get some motion detector lights for the side and back yard.

    Have a great weekend.

  • Well, the garage is coming along nicely .... all that's left is putting the speakers in the ceiling and then the cabinets. I'll post some pics this weekend. Speaking of this weekend, it's my mother inlaw's 85th birthday. I honestly think she's going to outlive all of us just to spite us.

That's about all I got to say tonight .... perhaps something fun will happen tomorrow....

  • I've developed this strange relationship with my body. It can actually tell me things if I listen. Here's what it's been saying.

    1. My mouth like Doritos and salsa ... the rest of my body doesn't. My body has instated an "abandon ship" policy a few hours after eating things it doesn't want to keep around.

    2. Since the detox, I have had no desire for processed sugar of any kind.

    3. Foods that are heavy in cream sauces do not agree with me.

    4. My body really likes rice, fruit chicken and vegetables. I haven't tried fish yet, but I'm thinking it'll like that too.

    5. Jenny Craig food make me gassy. I thought I'd try out my wife's diet food.

There are some foods that I'm going to mourn the loss of, others, it really doesn't affect me me one way or the other. It's going to be interesting to see what my final food choices are. I still feel good, I'm dropping weight and I feel REALLY clear. We'll see what the week brings.

Thanks again for allowing me to journal this journey.

  • I'm slowly getting acclimated to real food .... I'm curious to see if there are any foods I'm allergic to that I didn't know about. Could explain some of the fatigue and other ailments I had before the fasting and detox. Anyway ...

The last step in the epoxy coating goes on today, which means we can have stuff moved back in on Sunday morning. I peeked in last night, and the floor looks amazing. All slick and gray. I'm excited about getting the damn thing finished, as it's gone a month over what I had originally planned, but I'm still way under budget. On monday the builder comes back and installed the landing and stairs, hangs the new doors and then it's on to cabinets.

I'm off on an Elder's retreat this weekend ... not going far away at all, we rented a big house at the beach for the weekend with a huge hot tub and a fireplace. It'll be like a little vacation.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

  • Detox Diet: Day 5

Today was really good. Had a protein drink in the AM, went to work and had water and spearmint tea, came home for lunch for another protein drink, went back to work and got a fresh salad from the cafe with a little Italian dressing. More water and tea, and wasn't really hungry for dinner. Energy level is good, I'm feeling very clear, and just plain good again. I weighed in this morning, and have lost a total of 20 pounds in the 13 days I've been doing this.

I'm ending my detox tomorrow, as it will be 13 days that I've been doing it in one form or another. I feel like I'm done. Not spent, mind you ... I'm just done. Now I'll spend the next day or two re acclimating to real food again and settle into a new eating program. Haven't quite figured that out yet, but it'll be good. I'm thinking I'm going to avoid processed sugar .... seems to be my downfall.

My eating plan will be more grains and greens, possibly a little meat until Monday, which is my last colonic. This has been a life changing experience for me, and I'm excited to see what the rest of the year holds. Thanks for bearing with me while I went through it ... the encouragement has been awesome, and I totally got the support you all were giving out.

    Thanks again!

  • Detox Diet: Day 4:

Today I got to have some slightly cooked brown rice. These grains are supposed to be pretty hard, but man .... all that chewing makes me tired! It's like too much work for very little pay off. But, I'll tell you, after having nothing but greens (both cooked and raw) for the last 3 days, ANYTHING else tasted really wonderful. I gotta say, the one thing saving me through all this is the protein drink ... it's nasty and chalky, but wow ... it sure gives you the boost you need.

At 5:00 pm, as I was moving drywall and wood from the garage in preparation for the expoy floor (which is getting installed today), my colon therapist called. Seems she had an early opening (no pun intended) and wanted to know if I could come in early. Sure thing! I was kinda looking forward to this colonic just to see what would come out, since I really hadn't been eating that much.

Now I don't want to gross you out, so if you are squeamish about the internal working of your body, skip this paragraph.

I was blown away by what came out. She used this vibrator on my stomach and did some deep massaging, and all this green stringy stuff started coming out. I asked her if that was some of the left over vegetables, and she no, that green was toxic bile that my organs were kicking, and the stringy stuff was old waste matter that was finally freed from the intestinal walls. We did 4 fills and the stuff just wouldn't stop coming out .... there was impacted fecal matter that looked like rocks coming out. She said that stuff had been in ther for a LONG time. I guess now I'm starting to understand how colon cancer happens.

She was hilarious .... she was so happy at how this colonic went, you'd think I was the champion of the spelling bee. She said we got more out this session than most people do after 4 or 5. It was the fasting, for sure.

I feel really good. The work I did in the garage would have normally exhausted me, but I still had great energy. I also note that I'm not getting as fatigued at work .... no 2:00 pm slump. I'm still planning on stopping Friday and slowly bringing food back into my diet. One of the cool things about this diet is it shows you what foods you are allergic to. Case and point, when I did this diet 6 years ago, when it was over I treated myself to a pint of Ben and Jerry's "Chubby Hubby" ice cream. Fourty minutes later, I broke out in hives. Never really did find out what the real allergen was, as Chubby Hubby has everything but the kitchen sink in it.

I won't make that mistake this year.

    Onward to day 5 ....
