Okay .... now I'm pissed! I saw the final "Average Joe." tonight and thought. Hey, she really might pick the decent, nice guy over the pretty boy. I had hopes that the underdog would win out in the end.
She didn't.
Now the way the editing played out, it looked like she had a huge connection with the "Average Joe," but in the end, she took off with the guy she slept with on the overnight date.
Why does this piss me off?
I guess because I've been the "Average Joe," before. I hated that feeling of rejection and of being foolish when women used me to get what they wanted and then kick you to the curb. I felt really bad for this guy who was lead to believe that there was a huge connnection to this beautiful girl, that seemed really down to earth.
Perhaps .... just maybe ... I should stop watching reality shows.

Or maybe you should stop watching TV. I think the glossy pictures on the idiot box are part of the reason we have a hard time accepting people the way they are these days. But that's my personal opinion, of course, and people have called me wrong before...
Oh, I didn't watch it, reality television depresses me. But I had hoped she would pick one of "average" guys too. Oh, well, shallow is what sells advertising space.
I think Kevin hit the nail on the head. Depictions of people on TV distort our view of reality about ourselves and those around us. Beautiful girls never think they're beautiful enough, etc., and guys like you and me fade into the background behind ideals like Baywatch hunks. What we hold as the ideal of beautiful is, in reality, hyper beauty, unreal beauty, because that's all we see on the tube.
I watched it, and it pissed me off, too. The "Average Joe" was better in every way--intelligent, funny, charming, mature, has a career, confident, caring (and he really wasn't that bad looking, either--great smile), articulate. The better-looking guy seemed dumber than a bag of hammers & really had nothing going for him beyond being pretty (he expresses the depth of his feelings for her by saying "I can't believe I'm into you"). But I guess in the end it's her loss and the "Average Joe's" gain. I'm sure there are many women who would like to get to know him. He is the real winner in this, I think.
I refuse to watch that swill! There is nothing remotely "real" about forcing people to stay on an island, stay in a house full of other losers, or eat worms and bugs. To compete for someone's affection is hard enogh in the real real world. To do so in the realm of a huge TV audience has to be put in question as to the true intent. It's ratings, baby! We are becoming more and more like Romans in our vouyerism each day.
the only reality show i've watched was "murder in small town X." it's gotta have fake blood or i'm not interested
I did not watch that show, but it sounds like that girl is a jerk for doing that to the average Joe dude!
I agree with PSone...Happy Holidays to you your Mrs. and puppy...
OH MAN..I so totally agree...I got sucked into that show..and I thought..maybe ONCE the underdog would get the princess..But now ...I am saddened..I was so upset last night..and over a silly show! But I guess it is because I have always been my unique self..and for years I denied the fact I may be a bit of a geek..*laugh*...But..I embrace it...and more people need to realize the special gifts the average human has to give....Thanks for helping me rant a bit..*hugs* SHeri
