Sorry for the lateness of this post, I spent almost the whole weekend installing and re-installing all of my softwear on my new computer ... 8 TIMES!!!! I'm about ready to throw this thing out the window, but I'm not going to let it get the best of me, oh no! I will defeat this thing.
After countless hours on tech support calls to Microsoft, ATI and Creative Labs, it seems that I have a driver issue with the SIS648 chipset (buckle up and put on your propeller hats, folks) and it needs to be updated. Not a big problem, except I can't get to the download section of the SIS site!
So here it is a holiday, and I've been behind this computer for the last 3 days. *sigh*
At least the PC is running, all of my software is installed except the sound card drivers. So I'm very close now.

Pressures!
know that feeling well, when the window looks inviting. Patience, they say is a virtue, but it can be sorely tried. Hope you get your problem solved soon
Isn't it great that you don't need sound to browse Xanga?
Hang in there! All will be healed in good time. I remember when I first got this system, I was so frustrated I put it back in the box for a couple of months until I had the courage to mess with it again. Now, obviously, it works like a dream. Couldn't be happier! *pets computer*
I noticed that the sound card seems to be the one component that always seems to screw things up Used to do it all the time on my old 486 whenever I installed a new program (well, okay, a new game), and then the sound card would cause the PC to crash, prompting a visit to creative labs' ftp/web site.
What fun.
