  • Okay ... I'm feeling a little punk this morning. Had four glasses of absinthe on an empty stomache last night, and now I've got the slightest hangover going. You know, the kind that rests right behind your eyes and feels like a low-grade headache that you just can't locate. It's going to be a long day ....

My friend Chris and I had the best conversation going .... Damn you absinthe! Damn you for not making feel as intoxicated as I was! Damn you for tasting so good! Damn, damn, damn, damn! Ohhhh my head.

Anyway, hope you all have a good day ... I'm off to take some asprin and get some coffee. ohhhhh..... my head.

  • I'm Back.

So today Arnie get's sworn in as our 38th Gov. of California (or Caleefornea, as he puts it). I really hope he can come in a bring a fresh perspective to the mess we're in. I mean, he can't do any worse than Gray Davis .... can he? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I have high hopes for Arnie .... I really do.

    Good luck Governator.

  • Well I'm thankful Xanga is back up .... I wanted to post yesterday, but we didn't get back online till this morning. Oh well ... I'm sure the upgrades will make this place a better place to live.

Here's a picture of Zoe I took today .... she's a little over 90 days old and she's getting really big. What a fun puppy ....

Other than that, it's been a wet day ... really hard rain, so we lit a fire and are staying close to home. It sounds like a good day to pop some corn and watch a movie.

  • Man, what a rainstorm we had in the Los Angeles area ... not to mention 3 FEET OF HAIL! What's that all about, anyway? I saw on the local news that in Watts it looked like snow had fallen! We got some awesome thunder and lightning last night ... poor puppie got all scared when the thinder clapped. The terror was short-lived however, when she realized it was time to be fed.

I feel bad for the people who don't have power right now .... there's about 1200 homes in the dark, as we speak. On the news there were a lot of businesses in Watts that are flooded and without power. Man, that really sucks. I hate it when the power goes out, and I can't imagine what it would be like to be flooded out.

The only plus side to a heavy rain storm is the way it cleans up the air ... it's so blue and clear outside, not to mention how nice it smells. From my office window I can see the snow covered mountains ... I think I'm having eye trouble .... I can't really see my self at work today.

    Have a good Thursday!

  • You might have noticed the monkey to your left is now drinking a glass of absinthe ... one of my pals from an absinthe newsgroup I frequent was kind enough to modify the picture for me. Thanks Rimbaud! The weather has turned nice and crisp ... almost time to break out the leather trenchcoat ... I love wearing that thing, possibly my favorite coat. Got it for a steal too ... $99 at New York Leathers.

Anyway, N-Lab was really cool and I'm on another Breakthrough team coming up in December, and life is rolling right along. I really have nothing to complain about. The puppy is growing like a weed, and save for the occasional poop in the house, she's awesome.

So what's up with all of you?

  • N-Lab .... you gotta go if you can.

Wow ... what an awesome last two days! If you are in business or just want to make sure you get the best deal on ANYTHING, you gotta take this course! I walked into this thing Thursday morning thinking I was a pretty good negotiator, and realized how I shoot myself in the foot BEFORE I even get to the negotiation table. By the end of the day on Friday, I had a new sense of confidence, the ability to get clear on the deals at hand and leave as little as possible on the table,a and became an awesome negotiator.

The workshop was a series of discussions and exercises, giving you real life scenarios on dealing and negotiation practices I can now use this stuff in everyday life ... from buying a car, to home refi, to anything.

I'll post more later .... I've got a ton of stuff to catch up on.

  • Okay ... I just got into work at 9:08. From what I read, the movie opening was timed so that the whole world saw it at once. The movie was okay ... great CG, special effects were great. Overall? Not as good as #1, not as thin as #2 .... but a good way to end the trilogy. To boil it down, it was a big budget melodrama .... the only thing missing was white cowboy hats and a girl tied to a train track. The hardest part was getting my sorry ass out of bed to go to the movies, then after walking out realizing I still had the rest of the day ahead of me.

Anyway, go see it ... it's good fun and a great way to spend the afternoon. Have a decent Weds.

  • WHAT KIND OF FOOL AM I?

The kind that would go to the movies at 6:00AM, that's what kind I am. So that's where I'll be first thing in the morning. Now, I'm not sure if popcorn and coke makes for a good balanced breakfast or not (perhaps I'll get some peanutbutter cups for some extra protein), but it'll be big fun to see "Matrix Revolutions." I never liked Pt. 2, save for the freeway chase ... in fact, I thought Pt. 2 was a long trailer for part 3.

I'll write back when I get in to work on what I thought. Don't worry, no spoilers here.

  • So here it is .... the 3rd of November. Where in the hell did 2003 go??? It seems like 30 days ago we were ringing in the New Year, and now it's almost 2004! Ever since I turned 25, the years seem to have gone by like minutes. At least I feel like I've been accomplishing things over this last year. I can't really look back and say that I missed doing anything.

90% of the people here in the office are at a trade show this week, so it's like a ghost town here, which will be nice so I can catch up on a bunch of work. I'm only in the office 3 days this week, as I'm going to a business seminar called N-Lab on Thursday and Friday. It's a negotiation lab to help develop your negotiation skills. I've talked to a bunch of people who've gone through it and they said it was awesome, so I thought I'd give it a go. I'll let you know how it is.

Other than that, there's not a whole lot to talk about. Perhaps something cool will happen today and I'll report back.

  • Here's To A Long Life ...

TOKYO, Oct 31 —  The oldest person in the world, Kamato Hongo, died on Friday aged 116.

Can you imagine the things that this lady must have seen over the course of her life? I'll tell you what, this makes me realy think about making each and every day count. Can you imagine the lives she impacted and didn't even realize it? This type of thing really puts things into perspective for me ... I have very little to complain about.

Like my Grandmother said, "Every day you are above ground is a good day."

    True.
